Mike Maksimchuk

Board President

Dr. Mike Maksimchuk, Assessment Consultant at Kent ISD, brings a blend of educational expertise and passion for music to his role as a board member of The Servant Musician. With a Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction and over 15 years of experience in secondary education, Mike’s experience with research and data collection helps to support creative educational initiatives.

Growing up in a musical household—his father having been a music teacher for 44 years—Mike played tuba throughout his school and college years, and has played the organ in church since the age of 14. He currently serves as the organist for the Sparta United Methodist Church and the Grand Rapids Lodge #34 of Free and Accepted Masons, and he performs at the Grand Rapids Public Museum.

Mike's commitment to music is not only rooted in his personal experience but also in his understanding of its value in education. He recognizes music as a vital creative outlet and as an integrative tool that fosters skills like reasoning, collaboration, and expression. His background in both education and music uniquely positions him to advocate for music as a holistic part of the human experience.
